Development

This is not a compliance-only statement. We believe in accessibility as a core value at POD Access. Here’s how this website was developed and tested, throughout the process.

We decided on WordPress as a base, as it was a familiar platform for POD Access. The theme was made with love by K Belardinelli and Jessica Oddi who did their best to ensure WCAG 2.2 compliance, as well as extra considerations with and for the community.

Building Specifics

  • Larger, relative scaled font sizes and clickable areas.
  • Accessible color contrast, with dark mode as the default for less eye strain.
  • Dark and light mode toggle for people to choose from.
  • Image descriptions and accessible podcasting.

Testing Methods

  • Keyboard-only navigation.
  • Cross-browser testing in Google Chrome, Safari, Opera, and Firefox.
  • Desktop assistive tech using VoiceOver on Safari, and Narrator on Microsoft Edge.
  • Mobile assistive tech using TalkBack and Voice Access on a Samsung Galaxy S20 Pro with Google Chrome.
